Troon and PointsBet have come together to provide the inaugural PointsBet Cup at the Seaview Golf Club in Galloway Township, New Jersey. The event is scheduled to host the online gaming operator’s top VIP bettors from around the US this Saturday, Aug. 20.

This competition is happening just outside of Atlantic City and features both former NBA great and Philadelphia native, Richard “Rip” Hamilton, along with NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Barrett Brooks. The local celebrities will test their golf skills against the PointsBet VIPs.

As many in the Garden State are familiar, the gaming provider offers its online PointsBet Sportsbook and PointsBet Casino for NJ residents. It’s also active in many other states around the country, in addition to Ontario, Canada.

Troon and PointsBet agreed to a partnership in Jan. 2022. The company is known as the world’s largest golf management brand that also owns over 750 courses around the world. It includes properties in more than 45 states and 30 countries, with its own headquarters located in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The golf company created the Troon Partners Network to help facilitate events such as this. With their agreement, PointsBet is able to “conduct high brand visibility actions” at courses managed by Troon, including Galloway’s Seaview Golf Club.

PointsBet Chief Strategy Officer, Eric Foote, discussed the operator’s anticipation of the upcoming event. He said:

“PointsBet is excited to bring to life the Inaugural PointsBet Cup with our partner Troon at the gorgeous Seaview Golf Club. This is a great way to cap off the summer as we head into football season with our VIPs from across the country. We’re looking forward to more activations throughout the year.”

Additionally, it’s possible other PointsBet golf events could pop up in NJ in the future. The state actually showcases 17 Troon golf properties in total.

Of course, Troon management is also looking forward to this weekend. Its Director of Global Partnerships, Brett Brooks, said:

“The PointsBet Cup is an exciting event for us and a great opportunity to host PointsBet VIPs who enjoy competition and love the game of golf. Seaview is the ideal location to host the inaugural event with its pedigree of hosting world-class events like the ShopRite LPGA Classic. The PointsBet Cup also marks an important milestone as our partnership continues to elevate the entertainment experience for both PointsBet and Troon customers at our managed properties.”

Besides the noteworthy talents in Hamilton and NBC’s Brooks, the PointsBet Cup will highlight representatives from the nonprofit organization, Folds of Honor. The group supports families of the US Armed Forces, providing educational scholarships to spouses and children who have lost military family members.

The nonprofit launched in 2007 and has presented more than 35,000 scholarships to date. Folds of Honor consists of 31 local chapters nationwide, which have combined to give out over $160 million throughout the last 15 years.

Its Chief Impact Officer, Ben Leslie, is happy with the relationship with PointsBet. Leslie explained:

“Folds of Honor is grateful to have PointsBet as a proud supporter of our mission to provide academic scholarships to the families of disabled or fallen military service members. PointsBet understands the importance of an education and in supporting those that deserve and need our help.”
