About Those Pink T-shirts Signs Around Town - The Bedford Citizen

As you drive around Bedford these days you see a lot of lawn signs that look like a pink t-shirt.   Those signs are promoting a Kick-for-Cancer fundraising event taking place at Concord-Carlisle High School next Saturday, Sept. 24.

2022 will be the 16th year of this unique fundraiser. It originated in Concord in honor of a mom of a CCHS varsity soccer player who passed away from cancer in 2007.   The CCHS soccer team decided to play a fundraising game to honor her.  That first year they raised $8,000.  The event has grown with over 20 communities taking part, including Bedford.  The event has raised more than $665,000 over the past 15 years to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The Bedford women’s varsity soccer team is scheduled to play Acton-Boxborough at 4:45 p.m. at  CCHS.  Then the men’s team plays Wayland at CCHS at 7 p.m.

One of the parents I talked with is really hoping that Bedford fans will come out to support this fundraiser.  “Last year there were hundreds of fans from Wayland, Weston,  and other towns; the Bedford contingent was quite a bit smaller.”

Locally, Club 600 will be holding an open house collecting donations with free gym access, raffles, snacks, and drinks, with 100% of the money raised going to the Kicks-for Cancer fundraiser.  Click here for the FLYER
