Has your child outgrown their hockey equipment?

Give equipment a second life by donating gently-used gear to the Flamborough Girls’ Hockey Association’s annual equipment swap.

“The equipment swap is a great time to pass on any outgrown equipment and pick up equipment the player needs for the upcoming season,” said Joanne Breeze, the FGHA’s new director of fundraising and sponsorship.

The association is currently accepting donations of skates, shin pads, hockey pants, chest protectors, elbow pads, neck guards, gloves and sticks. No helmets will be accepted. Equipment can be dropped off at the FGHA office on the second floor of Harry Howell Arena (27 Highway 5 West) between 6 and 8:30 p.m. Sept. 5-8.

Equipment pick up can also be co-ordinated in advance by contacting sponsorship@fgha.ca. Pickup date is Sept. 4.

On Sept. 10, registered Flamborough Falcons players and their families can pick up new-to-them gear at the swap, which runs from noon to 4 p.m. at the arena.

“The annual equipment swap is to help reduce the cost of having to buy new equipment for the FGHA players,” said Breeze, adding volunteer “hockey parents” will be on hand on the day of the swap to assist players and their families with any questions related to fitting and gear.
