Athlete of the week: Bailey Goodell 

The Desert Mountain Island volleyball team has won the last two games. One of the leaders of the team is Bailey Goodall, one of the three predecessors of MDI. Last week, Goodell led the Troy team with 0.293 points and 19 kills in the team's games against Naaraguagus and Hampden. On Tuesday, she also led the Trojans to a three-set victory over rival Ellsworth.

Ellsworth-On October 19, during a high school volleyball match between Ellsworth High School and Ellsworth, Claire Moore of Desert Island passed the ball across the net. MDI has won this season's record following an impressive 3-1 victory in the 3-0 victory over Ellsworth at Hampton College last Thursday. The Trojan (8 wins and 6 losses) is currently ranked fifth in the B-level standings and will participate in the B-level playoffs. As the time of the news release on Wednesday morning has not finalized the treatment points, it is not possible to obtain information about MDI's opponents, the time and location of the game.  

Acadia Fire U12 men's team wins Sanford Championship 

Sanford-The local youth football team's first victory of the season came at the right time.  

The Acadia Fire U12 men’s football team won the championship at the Indigenous People’s Day Championship held in Sanford last Monday. The team that did not win in the first four games won the semifinal with a penalty shootout, and then won the championship game 2-0.  

After losing 2-0 to Gorham Youth Soccer Team 1 on October 9, the Acadia Fire U12 team drew 1-1 with Gorham Team 2 in the first of three matches on October 10. The team lost 3-1 to Brunswick Football Club in the first preliminaries, but eventually drew 1-1 with the Portland Regional Youth Sports Team to win the final playoff spot.  

Last Monday morning, after the two teams remained unscored in the regular season and five overtimes, the Arcadia Fire team defeated Brunswick 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out. Facing Portland in the championship battle, Arcadia won the championship from the goals of Jack Murino and Isaac Ellis.  

The Arcadia Fire U12 players participating in this game include Ellis, Murino, Carson Bill, Dylan Boatlet, Henry Budlow, Camden Bonnell, Michael Cook, Jay Leicester, Osian Prime and Ivan Tunis. The team is coached by Anthony Murino, Andy Odin and Kelly O’Neal.

Golf tournament raises $15,000 for MDI Hospital 

BAR HARBOR-A local golf tournament last month raised a lot of money for Mount Desert Island Hospital.  

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust announced on Tuesday that it had raised a total of $15,000 in the David R. Harding Memorial Golf Championship held on September 28. More than 90 golfers participated in the competition held at the Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor.  

The championship winners are Jeff Charland, Andrew Dailey, Garrett Hilchey and Ian Sady (55), and the net winners are Pete Collier, Connor MacGuire, Patrick MacGuire and Paul Tracy (53.42). The mixed championship title belongs to the foursome of Dana Fadley, Chrissi Maguire, Jeff McDaniel and Sara O'Connell (59.67).  

The tournament is to commemorate its namesake David R. Harding (David R. Harding), he is a long-term member of Bar Harbor Bankshares and chairman of the board of directors. The proceeds from the competition will be used for the hospital's new MRI system.
