LeBron James is arguably one of the top three basketball players of all time, and has one of the smartest basketball IQs of any person on the court.

When the Los Angeles Lakers superstar prepared to return to the NBA due to his COVID panic on Thursday night, there were a few things that puzzled him. He didn't understand why his son Brownie's high school basketball team was wearing a mask under his chin instead of on his nose and mouth.

"I'm sorry, but I'm participating in my boy game, the mask under the chin is meaningless to me!!" James wrote on Twitter.

Bronny James is a top high school basketball player, playing for Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California.

The California Intercollegiate Federation (CIF) followed the guidelines of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to wear masks indoors in September.

"On September 1, 2021, the CDPH issued an update to clarify the current educational guidance that all individuals (adults and students) are required to wear masks in K-12 schools, regardless of the vaccination status, apply to extracurricular activities, including 12 School-sponsored sports and sporting events. It further clarifies that the guidelines also apply to student athletes participating in indoor sports," CIF said.

CIF stated that if the American Academy of Pediatrics believes that wearing a mask may pose a risk of suffocation, young athletes may not wear a mask. These sports include competitive cheerleading, gymnastics, wrestling and indoor water sports.

The California Department of Public Health touted wearing masks in this year's guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID.

“Masks are one of the most effective and simple safety mitigation measures. They can prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection in schools and support full-time face-to-face teaching in K-12 schools,” reads part of the guide.
